Shhh….Don’t Tell Mum!!

This is an interesting topic. Given that I live alone, no-one is generally watching me so I have the luxury of getting away with it all.

I can sit naked on the lounge. Don’t worry, I don’t. I can walk out on my balcony in my underwear to get the washing. Yes, I do. I can leave mess from one end of the apartment to the other. Mmmmm…..maybe I do? I can munch on chocolate till my hearts content. A big yes to that one. There is a plus to this one as well, being on my own, I don’t have to share. Okay, so now you know I love my chocolate.

So I’m racking my brain to come up with something here.

Before I go on, I’m going to change this week’s title to “What do I do when I know no-one is watching?”. It’s a bit more applicable to this single gal.

The only thing I can come up with, is something Mum used to get extremely mad over when I growing up. I was taught that this is not only disgusting but also dangerous. Maybe now that I am an adult, that’s why I do it.

Drum roll please.

Licking the knife. Gasp! Shock!

Knife Beware!

Knife Beware!

I can hear your squirming! If you’re a mum, I can hear you scolding me. Now before you get your knickers in a twist, it’s not as bad as it sounds. Oh really, I hear you say!

I have two different knives in my cutlery set. Okay, so this is really mum’s cutlery set she gave me. One is a serrated knife and the other is a bread and butter knife. So back to my confession of licking knives, well, it’s only the bread and butter knife. That’s not all that bad, is it??

So tell me, is licking the bread and butter knife all that bad??

My Top 5 Reflections of the Past Week

I must confess I missed last week’s confession. Apologies to Rhianna at A Parenting Life. I was moving The Jenster Files to a new home. Being very technologically challenged, this wasn’t easy and didn’t quite go as smoothly as planned. But I got there. There are still a few bits and pieces to do. A couple of the social media buttons aren’t working, however The Jenster Files has a home of its own and for that I am proud.

I’ve had a bit of an annoying week so I figured I would confess those top 5 reflections of this past week. It’s really a mish-mash of ranting, being frustrated and weird things.

5.            Not enough time.

There is nothing new here and I know you are all nodding sympathically about this point. I am the same as you, I suffer from being time poor. At least as women we are born multi-taskers and this helps somewhat. This past week the lack of time just got to me. Minutes turned into hours and before I knew it, a whole day was over. I did accomplish quite a few things on the to-do list, it’s just I was incredibly frustrated in the process. I’m probably not confessing here so much as ranting! Or whingeing or both!

4.            I wish I was more technologically capable

This one probably speaks for itself. This technology stuff is like a whole other language to me and sometimes I understand, but mostly I’m about 10 steps behind. I feel like I’m back in maths class, when everyone else understood the concept however the teacher would need to go over it again for Jen. I like to believe that saying about ‘slow and steady’, however it just brings me back to annoying point number 5.

3.            I can’t break my sultana habit

This one is embarrassing! But…..I love sultanas. As soon as I get in the door from work I head to the cupboard and start munching on those sultanas. Weird, I know. I’m even fussy about my sultanas. They need to be fresh, soft and juicy. I can even eat a 375g box in two nights. Argh!!! So this week I hope to be more mindful of the hand to mouth exercises and think before I munch.

2.            I spent all Saturday night watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Okay….so this was actually enjoyable. I do love reality TV and this is just so easy to watch. I wasn’t feeling well and just sat curled up on the couch with the doona, air conditioner on and watched episode after episode. It was heaven even though you may find this hard to believe. It was also extremely satisfying. I think this point is definitely one of the weird things in this week’s post.

  1. I haven’t been getting junk mail in my mail box

Not happy at all about this one. I love junk mail. I love getting a new brochure and pouring over its contents. I read, re-read and then read again. Sometimes I cut them up and put the pictures on my vision board. Crazy but true. Maybe it’s the female in me that likes to ponder the brochures for a bargain. There’s always something very satisfying about seeing something discounted or on sale. It actually justifies the purchase. For some reason, I haven’t been getting brochures in my mail box. Probably because there is a ‘No Junk Mail’ sign on the apartment letterboxes. Look….that doesn’t mean the delivery people need to obey it, right?? I’m missing my brochures so much I’ve even started taking them from other mail boxes. Well…they won’t mind, will they? Whoops….another confession. Let’s just keep that one between us, okay?

How has your week been? What has frustrated or annoyed you?
